UAS Regulations

New UAS Regulations Order №156 were published by the GCAA in 2020 along with two standard scenarios (STS-01 as №163 and STS-02 as №171) all in Georgian:

Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) operation in Georgia is subject to the regulation requirements developed on the basis of the Regulation (EU) 2019/947 and the Regulation (EU) 2019/945.

As per the new UAS regulation:

UAS operators must be registered in Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA):
I. When operating an UA with a Maximum Take-off Mass (MTOM) of 250 g or more;
II. When operating an UA that is equipped with a sensor able to capture personal data.
The electronic registration via website is only available for users registered in Georgia’s public and civil registry. All foreign residents should physically present themselves at GCAA for registration.

Remote pilot certificates issued under the Regulation (EU) 2019/947 are automatically valid in Georgia.
There are three Categories of UAS operations in Georgia which are: Open, Specific, and Certified.
Unmanned Aircraft (UA) weighing less than 25 kilograms does not require Civil Aviation Agency’s approval if operated in the Open Category.
